About Karen Chisholm:

Born in Michigan and now living in Austin, Texas, Karen received a bachelor's degree in advertising from the University of Texas at Austin. Since then Karen has worked for numerous publishing and advertising firms and has operated her own design firm for nearly 15 years. In 2000, Karen developed a love for playing guitar and writing songs. It wasn't long before many recognized her as a gifted songwriter. Now Karen is an award-winning artist who some call "a force of nature". Karen is quickly rising among the sea of singer-songwriting talent with original songs that range from addictive pop to dark, sensual blues to in-your-face rhythmic rock. With a sweet, pure voice, haunting melodies, and radio sensible lyrics that live in your head, she mixes sugar with grit creating a sound uniquely her own. Her vision is to one day write for film and television and for other artists.

Chisholm has played and collaborated with a legion of well-known artists during her seven years of stage and recording experience. Many have appeared on her CDs, including Ramy Antoun formerly Blackeyed Peas; AlphaRev’s (formerly Hollywood Records) Dave Wiley, and Brian Batch. Chisholm has also worked with J.J. Plasencio formerly Sixpence None the Richer and Plum; Jacob Hildebrand of Deadman; Sergio Andrade formerly of Lifehouse; Frank Favacho of Second Day Red & Ginger Leigh, Solo artists: Jon Napier, Colin McDonald, Tanya Winch, and Elizabeth Wills.

Chisholm has been through a lot in her young life, and the color of that experience is in every one of her songs. Raised by teenagers in Michigan, she found her own way in the world, landing in Texas as a young teen, putting herself through college and developing a career in music and graphic arts. She has survived the suicide of friends and battled cancer. It’s all there in her songs – not the details, but the sound and the feeling and the hard-earned wisdom.
